Job Description
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Field Engineer to act as the primary technical bridge between design teams and on-site construction partners. This role focuses on the construction phase of data center campus projects through operational handover. You will ensure that large-scale power distribution systems are installed safely, accurately, and efficiently to meet the demands of AI workloads.
This position requires an electrical professional with a strong mix of electrical construction and design methodologies, power distribution equipment installation and commissioning, and a strong background in construction and or operational environments.
The role is remote by design, with a minimum travel expectation of 50%. There may be periods where travel exceeds this during critical construction phases. Most travel will be to the assigned construction site. Additionally, the role requires 24 7 on call support for the assigned campus during emergencies.
What You’ll Be Working On:
- Support the on site installation, quality assurance, functional checkout, testing, and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure, including medium and low voltage switchgear, power transformers, switchboards, protection and control systems, UPS systems, and electrical equipment within the data center
- Monitor deployment of advanced power backup and conditioning systems, including medium voltage UPS, backup generators, and BESS
- Support and directly contribute to substation protection system management
- Track construction progress against project milestones and ensure adherence to Basis of Design and engineering specifications without compromising speed
- Drive rapid resolution of RFIs and Field Engineering Directives between contractors and the internal design team
- Capture and own lessons learned and field service bulletins, feeding improvements back into design standards and templates
- Support Levels 1 through 5 commissioning activities, reviewing documentation for technical accuracy and completeness
- Act as an electrical safety leader in partnership with construction teams
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5 plus years of experience in mission critical environments supporting construction and or operations
- Strong practical understanding of electrical power distribution equipment assembly and installation
- Hands on experience working on site with general contractors and electrical subcontractors
- Solid project management skills with the ability to track schedules, identify risks, and drive timely completion
- Ability to troubleshoot complex field issues and implement practical, code compliant solutions in real time
- Willingness to travel frequently or be located near the assigned project site, with at least 50% time on site
Bonus Points:
- Professional Engineer license or EIT certification
- Experience with high density rack installations and supporting electrical infrastructure
- Experience on large scale construction projects such as data centers, oil and gas, or similar environments
- Certifications such as PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety credentials
