Summary:
Under the general direction of the EHS Manager, participates in the development and implementation of environmental, health, safety, security, and regulatory compliance programs. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and standards involving environmental management, chemical control, industrial hygiene, general safety, and fire safety. Reports all worker's compensation claims against the company. Reviews and analyzes data to suggest ideas for improving the EHS program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain Safety Smart Sheet Add new incidents (with attachments), Close Items (with attachments)
- Report necessary claims to the worker's compensation insurance group.
- Participate in monthly Safety Patrol activity (add items to Audit Smart Sheet)
- Run associates to the clinic for post-accident drug screens and coordinate care.
- Participate in incident investigations (help determine Man, Machine, Material, Method)
- Participate in 4M buy-off for all departments.
- Develop Safety Alerts for all Recordable Injuries
- Develop Safety One Point Lectures (safety training topics) when needed
- Maintain the Safety Commitment spreadsheet and generate reports.
- Maintain the Safety Sam poster for the site (Update weekly-minimum)
- Maintain inventory of First Aid supplies and reorder when needed.
- General First Aid for injuries on shift
- Trainer for First Aid/CPR/AED (must coordinate classes with certified trainer if not a trainer themselves)
- Generate medical files for all new associates.
- Communicate with security guards when necessary (Both Nissan and Topre sites)
- Communicate with the cleaning crew when necessary (if available)
- Onsite drug screens (new hire/random/post-accident)
- Manage annual audiograms/flu shots.
- New equipment inspection to ensure it meets safety standards/requirements.
- Support Onsite activities.
- Travel as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year experience with direct responsibility in Environmental, Health and Safety (or)
- Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field (or)
- 2 years' experience in Leadership/Training role (or)
- 3 years' experience in maintenance/technical role
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all departments and associates. Ability to communicate and interact with all Topre site/representatives. Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols. Ability to supervise and train employees Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise. Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Skill in developing safety procedures and protocols. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of risk management issues related to the design and construction of physical facilities. Microsoft Office- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Purchase Orders and Contracts; the ability to write reports and correspondence. As well as speaking effectively before customers or employees of the organization up to; and including the Director level.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic Arithmetic - Addition, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication and Statistics.
Reasoning Ability:
Should have the ability to solve practical and abstract problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in the use of a computer.
- Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Macros, Pivot Tables experience preferred but not required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- High school education or a GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Detail oriented.
- Organizational skills required.
- Good communication skills.
- Shipping or receiving experience preferred but not required.
- Self - Motivated TEAM Player

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work area is in proximity with other employees and crane sling loads.
