Staff Accountant
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to grow your career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? A confidential organization in the marine cargo handling industry is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Financial Reporting team in Houston, TX.
About the Role
As a Staff Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting monthly and quarterly financial reporting, maintaining day-to-day accounting operations, and contributing to tax compliance and treasury functions. This position reports directly to the Assistant Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close support
- Record daily cash activity across multiple bank accounts
- Maintain general ledger and assist with fixed asset reconciliations
- Support federal, state, and local tax filings (property, sales/use, business)
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
- Conduct financial analysis and respond to accounting inquiries
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (macros, formulas, graphs)

Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
