CNC Manager
Responsible for managing the administration of the CNC Department. The individual in this position will perform a variety of machine shop related tasks in making components used in the manufacturing of water faucet components. Responsibilities include developing creative solutions to CNC design problems, ensuring the proper CNC operating practices are followed, ensuring production KPI's and efficiencies are being met daily, and exceptional problem-solving skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages/Supervises and sets priorities in the CNC department so that the operators can perform their jobs efficiently and ensures proper quality output and safe operation. The allocation of work to machinists, managing priorities, maintaining equipment, and managing personnel. Listen to inputs from production, management, quality, planning and purchasing personnel, and use those inputs to improve the process.
- Plans and coordinates departmental activities on a rolling three-month schedule to ensure the CNC department meets the company's material planning requirements.
- Reports on and drives improvement of key performance metrics-including daily OEE, scrap rate, machine downtime, labor efficiency, and setup efficiency-through established annual goals.
- Ensures overall machine production readiness by managing preventive maintenance schedules and overseeing necessary machine repairs and rebuilds.
- Order consumable tools for department.
- Updates and maintains CNC work order schedules.
- Monitors and schedule overtime as needed.
- Daily interaction with employees from various areas of the business. Able to quickly shift priorities, collaborate effectively with others, maintain positive working relationships, and have high personal standards for job accomplishments.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and work toward objectives without sacrificing details.
- Understands and comprehends verbal and written communication.
- Requires regular, reliable attendance.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; or four-year college or university program certificate.
- A minimum of 15+ years related experience and/or training and a two- or four-year certificate from college or technical school or a minimum of 20 years related experience and/or training. Ability to work in a team environment as contributor and leader.
- Must have 15+ years' experience in CNC machining of metal components and CNC programming, management/supervisory experience preferred. Manual machining experience along with design experience. The applicant should have in depth knowledge of the operations of a CNC machine shop in a job shop or contract manufacturing environment, including but not limited to: capabilities of various CNC mills, lathes, mill-turns, Swiss, and other CNC machining related equipment, multi-axis a plus. Further, the applicant should have experience in the managing of jobs/contracts, production scheduling, materials sourcing, labor sourcing, cost management, and general management of staff.
