If you're a commercial HVAC tech who's tired of being just another wrench on someone else's truck — read this.
Vertek HVAC is a new commercial service company built in Central Ohio, by tradespeople, for tradespeople. We're not a franchise, and we're not private-equity roll-up #47. We're building the shop we always wished we'd worked for — and we need one more technician who wants to grow with it, not just clock in and out of it.
This isn't a maintenance-plan mill. You'll run real commercial service and light install work, out of a van stocked with quality tools you'll actually want to use, at a company that's still writing its playbook — while there's room for you to help write it.
About Vertek HVAC
Vertek HVAC LLC is a commercial HVAC service company based in Central Ohio. We're early — which means less bureaucracy, more ownership, and a direct line to the person who owns the company, not a regional manager three layers up. We stock our trucks right: well-equipped service vans, brand-name gauges and meters, and the parts on hand so you're not making a supply-house run mid-call. We're building Vertek to be the commercial HVAC company technicians tell their friends to apply to.
What Winning Looks Like
We're not hiring you to fill a job description — we're hiring you to own an outcome: keep our commercial clients' HVAC systems running, diagnosed right the first time, with communication that makes us look good every time you're on-site.
First 30 days — Complete onboarding and ride-alongs, learn our truck stock and service standards, and start running preventive maintenance and straightforward service calls on rooftop units and split systems independently.
First 60 days — Run a full commercial service route solo: diagnosing and repairing RTUs, package units, and light commercial refrigeration with a first-time-fix rate we can count on, and few if any callbacks.
First 90 days — Be the tech dispatch hands the hard calls to — complex diagnostics, customer escalations, and light install/retrofit work — and start showing the next tech we bring on how it's done.
Year one — Be a core piece of the Vertek service team: known by our commercial clients by name, shaping how we build our standard operating procedures, and on a track toward a lead-tech or install-lead role as we grow.
Who You Are
Must-haves:
- 3+ years hands-on commercial HVAC service experience (rooftop units, package units, split systems)
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
- Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record
- Comfortable working independently — diagnosing, explaining repairs, and talking to customers on-site without someone walking you through it
- Your own basic hand tools (Vertek supplies the van, gauges, meters, and specialty tools)
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and in mechanical rooms in all weather
Strong pluses, not required:
- Brazing/soldering experience
- Controls or building-automation exposure
- Light commercial install or retrofit experience
Compensation & Benefits
- $25–$45/hour, depending on experience and certifications
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Direct access to the owner — no corporate layers between you and decisions that affect your day
- Real room to grow as Vertek grows: this is an early hire, not a replaceable seat
Who Fits Here
We're looking for someone who acts like an owner, not a passenger. That means:
- You'd rather fix it right than fix it fast and get called back
- You communicate with customers like it's your own company's name on the invoice
- You show up on time, every time — reliability isn't optional in this trade
- You want a voice in how things get built, not just a list of tasks handed down
If you're the tech your current shop takes for granted, we'd rather not take you for granted.
