POSITION OVERVIEWFOR THE SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of all purchased goods while supporting the Quality Management System and strengthening vendor relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
- Supplier Audits & Corrective Actions: Conduct audits, manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR), and train vendors on quality standards.
- Product Qualification & Performance: Execute PPAP processes to align engineering specifications with supplier process capabilities. Track supplier metrics and generate performance scorecards with Sourcing and Purchasing teams.
- New Product Development: Support the Product Development Process (PDP) across cross-functional and global teams using APQP principles.
- Supplier Development: Drive vendor improvements in quality, cost, and delivery using ISO, SPC, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Receiving & Defect Management: Assist factory QC with receiving inspection standardization, non-conforming product investigations, dispositions, and deviations.
- Global Quality Initiatives: Execute strategies focused on PPM reduction, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE FOR THE SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
- Education: BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Science preferred) or Management.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in Supplier Quality and QA with increasing project leadership responsibilities.
- Certifications: CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
- Quality Tools: Proficient in PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, SPC/Cpk, Control Plans, Minitab, and MS Office.
- Continuous Improvement: Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma, DOE, DFM, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Continuous Flow, SMED, and Error-Proofing.
- Manufacturing: Knowledge of injection molding, mechanical assembly, fabrication, and electro-mechanical processes.
- Technical Literacy: Strong GD&T interpretation of mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
- Fluent in English with strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills; bilingual capabilities in Mandarin Chinese or Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines while managing multiple concurrent tasks.
- Domestic and international travel capability (up to 25%); active passport and visa eligibility required.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 30 lbs.
