Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product and process quality across aerospace manufacturing operations through the implementation and continuous improvement of quality systems, corrective actions, and operational process controls.
This role supports compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements while partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and customers to drive operational excellence, reduce risk, and improve overall business performance.
What You’ll Do
- Support AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, customer, and regulatory quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain quality procedures, inspection instructions, checklists, and documentation.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and inspection planning.
- Lead MRB, RCCA, 8D, 5 Why, and corrective action activities.
- Investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and nonconforming materials.
- Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to identify root causes and prevent repeat issues.
- Support and lead internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.
- Monitor quality metrics such as SPC, PPAP, and Gage R&R.
- Work with suppliers to improve quality systems, processes, and inspection methods.
- Participate in supplier audits and occasional supplier visits.
- Support continuous improvement, scrap reduction, and cost-of-poor-quality initiatives.
- Communicate with customers, auditors, and regulatory representatives regarding quality requirements.
- Help develop and deliver training related to quality procedures and inspection methods.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001.
- Experience with RCCA, 8D, 5 Why, or similar root-cause methodologies.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
- Knowledge of SPC and process capability.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.
