Facility & EHS Manager - Advanced Materials Manufacturing

Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Facility & EHS Manager to oversee site operations for an advanced materials and superconducting wire development facility.
This role will be responsible for:
- Facility infrastructure
- EHS programs
- Equipment maintenance
- Utilities and contractor coordination
- Operational readiness for pilot-scale manufacturing
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced R&D-to-production environment involving thermal processing, rolling equipment, controlled atmosphere systems, and powder handling operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations
- Oversee daily site operations, infrastructure, and utilities
- Coordinate facility expansion, layout optimization, and equipment installations
- Manage vendors, contractors, and maintenance activities
EHS & Compliance
- Develop and enforce EHS procedures and safe operating practices
- Support hazardous powder handling protocols and ventilation systems
- Manage lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE, chemical hygiene, and emergency response systems
- Ensure OSHA and local regulatory compliance
Equipment & Maintenance
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for:
- Rolling mills
- Furnaces/annealers
- Gloveboxes
- Vacuum and gas handling systems
- Coordinate troubleshooting and repair activities
Operational Support
- Support manufacturing readiness and uptime
- Assist with inventory, consumables, spare parts, and shop organization
- Help establish scalable operational systems as production grows
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years in manufacturing operations, facilities, or industrial environments
- Experience supporting industrial equipment and maintenance systems
- Strong understanding of industrial safety systems and EHS practices
- Experience managing contractors and facility operations
Preferred
- Experience with:
- Powder handling environments
- Controlled atmosphere systems
- Vacuum or thermal processing equipment
- Specialty metals or advanced materials manufacturing
