Siemens Energy seeks a Field Service Engineer to support periodic maintenance activities for Service Contracts, Warranty repairs and support commissioning Activities for FACTS and HVDC stations. Field activities will include automation, protection, control, communication, equipment testing and commissioning, and customer reporting and interaction. The work will happen at SVC, iSVCs, Fixed Series Capacitor, Synchronous Condensers and HVDC stations throughout the United States. Extensive travel is required. 70% travel is required for the year.
How You’ll Make an Impact
• Lead commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVDC, synchronous condenser, and series capacitor systems, encompassing auxiliary power, batteries, protection controls, power electronics, cooling systems, alarms, and communication interfaces.
• Current transformers, voltage transformers, power transformers, capacitor banks, reactors, filter banks, surge arrestors, bus bar system, grounding system, disconnect and grounding switches, and current and differential protections.
• Support and input to protection and control engineers related to the enhancements of the protection and control applications, philosophies and design.
• Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of processes and or procedures.
• Participate as a team member to develop Service and Commissioning documentation, provide schedule guidance, and outage planning. Assist with coordination of test equipment when needed.
• Interface with the Customer as the Siemens representative on site, provide feedback to Sales and Marketing on Customer goals and objectives and maintain the Customer relationship.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of commissioning experience with SVC, FACTS, HVDC, or related electrical power systems.
• Proficient in reading, interpreting, and troubleshooting electrical schematics, protection drawings, and control documentation.
• Strong understanding of electrical protection, control systems, protective relays, and industrial power system applications for FACTS and HVDC equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute work, perform quality checks, document activities, track project progress, and manage warranty-related information.
• Effective English communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams to resolve complex technical issues affecting multiple systems or facilities.
