Overview:
Position Summary
The Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components using various welding processes. This position requires the ability to read blueprints, operate welding equipment safely, and produce high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, or other welding processes as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and positioning components.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, and fabrication equipment safely.
- Measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other measuring devices.
- Repair and rework defective welds as necessary.
- Maintain welding equipment and perform routine maintenance checks.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
Skills and Experience:
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Experience using measuring tools and fabrication equipment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding certifications such as AWS Certified Welder or equivalent.
- Experience with structural steel, sheet metal, aluminum, stainless steel, or pipe welding.
- Ability to perform layout, fitting, and fabrication work.
- Forklift, crane, or rigging experience.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
