Job Description
The Program Monitor is responsible for monitoring program participants, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the program. This position ensures participants follow established rules, policies, and program guidelines while providing professional, respectful, and compassionate assistance.
- Monitor participants and program activities to ensure safety and compliance with program rules.
- Maintain a secure, clean, and orderly program environment.
- Conduct regular rounds and monitor common areas, entrances, and assigned spaces.
- Check participants in and out according to established procedures.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, incident reports, attendance records, and other required documentation.
- Enforce program rules and procedures consistently and professionally.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, conflicts, rule violations, and other incidents.
- Report safety concerns, maintenance issues, policy violations, or unusual activity to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist participants with basic questions and direct them to appropriate staff or resources.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect participant privacy.
- Assist with room checks, curfew monitoring, and other program requirements as assigned.
- Monitor and distribute supplies as directed.
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding participant concerns and program activities.
- Follow all Salvation Army policies, procedures, safety requirements, and professional standards.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education: High School
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult or stressful situations.
- Ability to enforce rules fairly, consistently, and respectfully.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts when required.
Physical:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.,Ability to conduct regular rounds and monitor program areas.,Ability to respond quickly to safety or emergency situations.,Ability to perform light lifting, moving supplies, and other physical duties as required.
Skills:
- Basic computer and documentation skills preferred.,Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
