We are seeking a Safety Coordinator with 3 to 5 years of construction safety experience to join our team! You will oversee construction safety for high profile projects in the Chicago region.
Must have an OSHA 30-Hour card. Must be able to perform extensive standing, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to manipulate up to 100lbs; to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb a step ladder.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of construction safety from planning to implementation
- Supervise onsite personnel and subcontractors
- Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients
- Ensuring compliance with OSHA, client, and property owner safety requirements
- Conducting regular field inspections of work activities
- Performing daily safety briefings (aka Tool Box Talks)
- OSHA record keeping (training, medical surveillance, 300 logs, etc.)
- Overseeing the proper use of PPE
- Ensuring Competent Person designations are in order
- Conducting near miss and accident investigations
- Preparing Job and Task Hazard Analyses and maintain Safety Log Book
- Assisting with permitting procedures and preparation
- Holding weekly safety meetings
- Attending management meetings such as planning and progress meetings
- Equipment Inspections (Harnesses, electrical cords, etc.)
- Assisting with case management to control OSHA recordables and lost time injuries
- Upgrade/Downgrade levels of respiratory protection
- Enforce Disciplinary policy
- Manage subcontractor safety representatives
- Develop/perform Site Orientation Training
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction safety management a requirement
- Familiarity with construction management software
- Strong leadership qualities
- Strong negotiation skills
