The Field Service Representative (FSR) for Gimpel
valves (safety valves) and Steam Turbines works in the field, supporting
customer sites with maintenance, troubleshooting and installation &
commissioning. This is a Region North America position reporting to the STG
Field Service Manager based in the United States. The Mechanical FSR position
is responsible for providing services mainly for Gimpel valves and Dresser Rand
legacy steam turbines. A Field Service Representative not only ensures the
equipment is installed and working properly but also manages customer
relationships to boost customer retention and satisfaction, which ultimately
boosts the company’s profitability. Job requires > 70% traveling to
customers.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform technical field service, installation, commissioning,
testing, and service inspections for Gimpel valve systems and industrial
steam turbines, utilizing advanced mechanical and electrical engineering
expertise.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, equipment assessments, and complex
troubleshooting, applying strong analytical, investigation, and
problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical
system issues. Document service activities, communicate technical
findings, and uphold all EHS and zero-harm safety standards.
- Operate and interpret results from test equipment to verify system
performance, ensure compliance with specifications, and maintain rigorous
quality control standards.
- Lead and coordinate onsite personnel, including internal teams,
contractors, and customer representatives, while supporting project
planning, execution, scheduling, and technical communications with project
managers and engineering support teams.
- Deliver customer training and technical guidance, leveraging strong
customer and process management, customer relationship management, and
influencing skills to build long-term partnerships, drive customer
satisfaction, and identify service, upgrade, and product sales
opportunities.
- Travel extensively within the U.S. to support customer
installations, outages, and service projects, with approximately 10%
international travel for global assignments.
What You Bring
- High
school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical,
Electrical, Power, or related technical field preferred.
- 3+
years of steam turbine and/or safety valve experience required, though
relevant degrees or certifications may be considered in lieu of
experience.
- Strong
knowledge of steam turbines, rotating equipment, mechanical systems,
instrumentation and controls, PLCs, and electro-hydraulic systems.
- Ability
to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, and
independently troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent
customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills in
customer-facing industrial environments.
- Valid
driver’s license and passport required; must be authorized to work in the
U.S. and willing to travel extensively (domestic/international), including
short notice, nights, weekends, and holidays.
