Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and workflow optimization efforts to enhance patient experience, quality, safety, operational efficiency, and overall patient care. Actively contributes to student and employee training, onboarding, and educational activities.
Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment, including cleaning and preparing patient rooms. Maintains adequate supplies and inventory within the assigned area. Prepares contrast administration and invasive procedure areas using aseptic technique and sterile processes in accordance with established protocols.
Transports patients to the CT scanner and prepares the examination room. Verifies orders, patient preparation, and the reason for the exam to ensure appropriate scanning protocols are utilized. Communicates effectively with patients by obtaining medical history, answering questions, and explaining procedures to promote patient understanding, comfort, and cooperation. Processes examinations for interpretation.
Prioritizes patient flow and coordinates care through consistent and effective communication with patients, care teams, and families. Documents patient care activities in applicable electronic health record systems and distributes final images to the PACS system in a timely manner for interpretation.
Consistently acts and communicates professionally, embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful, supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues. Adheres to ARRT Standards of Ethics.
Applies knowledge of CT principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety, physics, patient positioning, and patient care techniques. Complies with Joint Commission, state, federal, organizational, and departmental regulatory requirements and standards.
Certificate in Radiologic Technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) required.
