We are seeking a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Physician Assistant to join our client's team in Oklahoma, starting Sep 7, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs. The schedule requires 7-10 nocturnal shifts per month, from 5 pm to 6:30 am.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform accurate, complete, concise, and relevant history and physical assessments of patients.
- Order appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interpret results.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify patient care plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Provide patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate, and effective care for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease throughout the lifespan.
- Facilitate consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
- Incorporate patients and families in care planning and treatment across settings.
- Consider cost effectiveness and risk/benefit analysis when making decisions about patient care.
- Utilize evidenced-based medicine to systematically analyze and improve patient care practices.
- Develop, evaluate, and implement standards of care within the area of specialization.
- Participate in research opportunities to advance the care and treatment of patients.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, other health professionals, and health related agencies.
- Counsel and educate patients and families.
- Serve as an advocate for patients and families in navigating the healthcare system.
- Participate in the education of students and other healthcare professionals.
- Engage in organizational and departmental meetings, educational opportunities, committees, and workgroups as necessary.
- Participate in quality initiative and performance activities.
- Promote interdisciplinary practice and implement strategies to overcome barriers to collaboration.
Additional Information
- Board Certification: Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
- Three or more years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a designated specialty.
- Demonstrated knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of medical conditions.
- High degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
- Proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to the practice area.
- Advanced level of medical/nursing clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
- Highest level of accountability for professional practice.
- Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
- Ability to manage general medical and surgical conditions.
- Ability to follow ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent, and unanticipated adverse outcomes.
