Job Summary
The Mammography Coordinator provides non‑clinical, operational support for breast imaging services at an assigned imaging site. This role is responsible for mammography administrative/clerical workflow including but not limited to order accuracy, prior imaging coordination, FDA compliance and documentation management to support efficient screening and diagnostic processes within the breast imaging center. The coordinator functions as a back‑office organizer and workflow steward and does not provide direct clinical care.
Job Responsibilities
• Answer phone calls for multiple sources including but not limited to patients, providers, and centralized scheduling.
• Maintain communication letters for mail including result lay letters, short-term follow-up letters, annual and overdue reminders, and certified letters to providers/patients
• Maintain Mammo Bi-rad work-que for follow-up
• Obtain Authorization or Release to request Prior imaging and reports from outside facilities.
• Burn CD’s for outside request for prior imaging
• Receive and merge prior imaging and results in PACS with outside imaging order in EPIC.
• Review all breast imaging orders for accuracy and request correct orders as needed
• Transcribe written orders from outside providers into EPIC.
• Assist in maintaining patient flow from waiting room to dressing/exam rooms.
• Schedule patient appointments
• Assist in obtaining authorizations and/or documentation needs for biopsy procedures.
Minimum Required Experience
Minimum 1 year of administrative or clerical experience in a healthcare, medical office, radiology, or imaging environment.
Preferred/Desired Experience
Experience with medical records coordination, order management, or patient scheduling workflows. Prior exposure to breast imaging, radiology, or a diagnostic imaging center.
Minimum Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Required Special Skills
Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of data and documentation accurately. Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred/Desired Special Skills
Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC, PACS, or other EMR. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to radiology or breast imaging.
