Job Description
To provide multidisciplinary rehabilitative care to the cardiac and pulmonary clinical patient population. To assess patient s exercise, educational and behavioral needs. To be responsible for the evaluation of patient condition to include, but not limited to, strength and endurance, flexibility, and teaching to reduce falls through balancing routines. Establishes rehabilitation goals and implements individualized treatment plans. To lead a team of exercise physiologists in a multidisciplinary environment including medical directors, registered nurses, dietitians and respiratory therapy. To provide guidance and direction on exercise prescription and progression. To assume a leadership role within multidisciplinary team as an exercise specialist guiding exercise prescription and progression, and designating specified exercise modalities for patient population through individual assessment. To be responsible for the understanding and pursuit of program performance metrics to ensure best outcomes with each patient. To respond to the unique needs of all patients ages young adult through geriatric.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Kinesiology or a related field and five (5) years of relevant experience working with patients in a clinical environment setting treatment plans focused on reduction of risk factors and behavior change required. Experience leading/guiding others required. Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Kinesiology or a related field preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Certified as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) or certified as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is required. Must obtain AACVPR Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certificate within twelve (12) months from date of hire into position. If ACSM-CEP certified, CCRP certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months from date of hire into position. If CCRP certified, then ACSM-CEP must be obtained within twelve (12) months from date of hire into position. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
