Pay Rate: $40.00 $45.00 per hour
About the Role:
Birch Agency is proud to represent a respected Chicago-based charter school in the need of a compassionate and skilled Certified School Nurse (CSN) to lead their student health services. The CSN plays a vital role in fostering a safe and healthy school environment by supporting the medical, emotional, and educational well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Care: Administer first aid, emergency response, and prescribed medications/treatments.
Health Assessments & Screenings: Conduct mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis), refer for diagnosis, and follow up on care.
IEP/504 Plan Collaboration: Support development and implementation of health components in IEPs and 504 plans.
Health Education: Educate students, staff, and parents on wellness topics such as nutrition, disease prevention, and hygiene.
Emergency Response: Respond to school crises including accidents, trauma, and behavioral incidents.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health, CDC, and special education health guidelines.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Active Illinois Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
Certification: Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Nurse endorsement (Illinois State Board of Education).
Experience: Pediatric or school-based experience preferred; must be comfortable working in diverse student populations.
