Job Position:Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Location:Romeoville, IL 60446
The Visually Impaired Teacher is responsible for planning instructional lessons that meet the needs, interests and abilities of visually impaired students; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; and employing effective instructional techniques for the necessary curriculum adaptations.
Current Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with Teacher of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired Endorsement
Knowledge of current teaching techniques for students with visual impairments
Ability to write and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
Ability to provide help in modifying instructional materials for students assigned
Excellent communications skills with students, teachers, and parents, and a willingness to spend the time to assure that such communication takes place
Ability to work cooperatively with support personnel on a daily basis
Additional duties may from time to time be assigned in accordance with provisions of the Board's policies and requirements.
