This full-time, temporary assignment is anticipated to last up to six (6) months, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements and performance. The position requires in-person work at project facilities within the San Francisco Bay Area Region.

The selected candidate will provide technical leadership in planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing electrical infrastructure systems for complex industrial, manufacturing, and research environments. The ideal candidate combines advanced electrical engineering expertise with practical field experience and the ability to deliver construction-ready solutions in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering and Design

Develop electrical infrastructure designs from preliminary engineering and conceptual planning through final construction documentation.
Prepare comprehensive electrical drawings and coordinated models using Revit MEP, including power distribution layouts, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting systems, grounding plans, and conduit routing.
Perform or review electrical engineering studies, including short-circuit analysis, arc flash assessments, voltage drop calculations, protective device coordination, and lighting evaluations.
Evaluate electrical system capacity, reliability, operational safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Recommend practical, energy-efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions that support facility operations and infrastructure improvements.

Project Coordination and Technical Oversight

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, manufacturing, and facilities teams to define and coordinate electrical infrastructure requirements.
Review contractor submittals, equipment specifications, shop drawings, and third-party engineering documents for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction, equipment installation, and project execution.
Conduct on-site facility assessments, field investigations, and design verification activities to resolve installation and constructability challenges.
Support project planning through engineering evaluations, material takeoffs, preliminary cost estimates, and design alternatives.

Quality Assurance and Design Optimization

Ensure electrical designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), California Building Code (CBC), California Energy Code (Title 24), and other applicable regulations.
Contribute to the standardization of electrical engineering documentation, Revit families, BIM coordination procedures, and design workflows.
Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation measures to reduce construction delays, unnecessary costs, and operational disruptions.
Present engineering findings, design recommendations, project progress, and technical risk assessments to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent directly related education and practical experience.
Active California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible electrical engineering and design experience, with 5-10+ years of relevant experience strongly desired.
Demonstrated experience designing electrical systems for industrial, advanced manufacturing, research laboratories, data centers, hospitals, or large commercial facilities.
Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP and Building Information Modeling (BIM), including electrical modeling, panel scheduling, circuiting, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Comprehensive knowledge of NEC requirements, California Building Code, and California Title 24 energy standards.
Experience preparing electrical construction documents, performing technical design reviews, and coordinating engineering deliverables.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple engineering assignments while maintaining quality and meeting project deadlines.
Ability to work in person at designated project locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area Region.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar electrical system analysis software.
Practical knowledge of electrical installation methods, field troubleshooting, construction sequencing, and equipment specifications.
Experience supporting capital improvement projects, industrial facility expansions, or mission-critical infrastructure.
Familiarity with electrical design standardization, energy efficiency initiatives, and infrastructure cost optimization.
