Service Technician Job Summary

Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a proven sales performance record through customer recommendations, service upgrades, and solution-based selling.

Key Responsibilities

Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential or commercial environments.
Diagnose electrical issues and determine effective repair solutions.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit systems.
Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, switches, relays, outlets, and circuit breaker panels.
Test electrical systems and circuit continuity to ensure safety, functionality, and code compliance.
Perform preventative maintenance and respond to service calls in a timely manner.
Recommend system improvements, upgrades, and replacement options based on customer needs.
Maintain a proven sales record by identifying opportunities for additional services, equipment upgrades, and maintenance agreements.
Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and high-quality service.
Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records of repairs and installations.
Follow all company safety procedures and local electrical codes.

Qualifications

Associate degree or vocational/technical training preferred
1–2 years of electrical or field service experience
Proven sales record with the ability to recommend products and services confidently
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and safety practices
Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls efficiently
