About Cox Manufacturing

Cox Manufacturing is a family owned and operated organization. Our purpose is to love God, love people, and advance American Manufacturing. We provide high volume, precision-machined parts from bar stock to a variety of customers. As one of the largest precision-turned factories in the nation, we are growing with patented technology and apprenticeship opportunities. Our core values Teamwork, Continuous Improvement, Perseverance, and Excellence drive everything we do. If this is you, great. If not, you should search for a career elsewhere.

The ideal person for this role has spent years behind a lathe and knee mill and doesn't need training wheels. They've seen enough jobs go sideways to know how to stop problems before they start. They set up, dial in, and hold tolerance without someone standing over their shoulder and they're ready to pass that know-how on to newer machinists coming up.

Job Responsibilities

Independently set up and operate engine lathes and knee mills to produce precision parts, start to finish
Read and work from complex blueprints and technical drawings with no hand-holding
Select and dial in cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on years of hands-on judgment
Hold tight tolerances consistently, verifying work with micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
Troubleshoot setup and process issues on the fly and correct course before scrap happens
Mentor less experienced machinists and help drive continuous improvement on the floor

Job Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience running engine lathes and knee mills required (10+ years strongly preferred)
Proven track record independently setting up jobs and holding precision tolerances
Expert-level blueprint and technical drawing interpretation
Strong command of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
Surface grinder experience a plus

Compensation & Benefits

Pay for this role ranges from $32 $40 per hour, based on skills and experience. Our employees enjoy benefits designed to support their physical, financial, and emotional wellbeing, including:

100% company-paid primary and urgent healthcare
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
401(k) plan with 50% company match
Life insurance
Paid time off and paid holidays
Counseling programs
Career path planning and continuing education
