Exciting Opportunity at Aire Serv of Iowa City - Seeking an Experienced HVAC Technician

For over 30 years, Aire Serv has stood for excellence and putting customers first across the country. Aire Serv of Iowa City is growing - offering more than a job: a real chance to learn, mentor, and lead as the business expands.

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Technician (Residential and Commercial) to take a customer-facing role across residential and light-to-medium commercial service. You’ll meet customers, diagnose and repair equipment, present options clearly, and deliver high-quality service every visit. This company values technicians who enjoy working with people, solving problems, and helping the team succeed.

What’s in it for You:

Highly competitive pay: $38–$45/hr for journeyman or master-licensed HVAC Tech/Installer with at least 2+ years of residential experience. (Others are encouraged to apply for a different rate of pay. Apply to learn more.)
Year-round work - steady income with no seasonal layoffs.
Company van (may be taken home).
Tools & tech provided, including tablets and ServiceTitan for schedules and estimating.
Paid holidays after 90 days.
401(k) options.
Health benefits assistance.
Bonus/spiff opportunities for performance and referrals.

Fun and Honest Culture:

We’re a small, scrappy, collaborative team that values respect, accountability, and growth. Expect direct, honest leadership and a focus on coaching - not quick cuts. We want people who are flexible, willing to learn, and who help each other. A “get it done” attitude and a constructive mindset are important as we refine processes and grow together.

What We Seek in You:

Charismatic, outgoing, warm and engaging with customers to help educate them and solve problems. Skilled at building trust.
Humbly confident in your HVAC knowledge and industry trends and updates (thermostats, efficiency upgrades, maintenance plans).
Tech savvy - comfortable using CRM software – ServiceTitan preferred - on tablets and other digital tools.
Open to learning and being better every day. Willingness to attend ongoing training, including periodic out-of-state sessions.
“Can do” - problem-solving mindset and the ability to diagnose quickly and present clear options.
Flexible and willing to help and mentor others on the team. Excited to possibly grow into a trainer/leader role within 6–12 months.
Must live within reasonable commuting distance from Tiffin (within 25 miles).

Role Fundamentals / Requirements:

Iowa Journeyman and Master’s License, 4+ years for top pay
Residential field experience required (commercial/refrigeration experience highly valued).

· Certifications: EPA Universal 608 required. NATE is a plus.

Required skills: service & troubleshooting, air conditioning (must), gas furnaces (must - not only electric). Heat pumps and mini-splits are a plus. Boilers helpful but not required.
Commercial experience: rooftop units, walk-in coolers, ice machines, and light commercial service work is common. Basic electrical skills expected.
Must be able to perform independently within a short ramp-up (expected out of top pay candidates).
Must be able to lift 60+ lbs and work in varied environments and weather.
No smoking or vaping in company vehicles or on customer property.
Must have reliable transportation and some on-call availability.

Day in the Life (example):

Explain work and options, build rapport and trust, and execute repairs efficiently and professionally.
- Diagnose and repair a commercial walk-in cooler.
- Pick up parts from supplier for another customer.
- Complete residential AC/furnace diagnostic and repair.
