Hourly interviews are usually short and practical. Managers want to know you will show up, work well with others, and stick around. A little prep goes a long way.
Questions you will likely hear
- "What's your availability?" Be honest and specific - open availability is a real advantage.
- "Why do you want to work here?" Keep it simple: the schedule, the location, learning the role.
- "Tell me about a time you dealt with a tough customer or teammate." A short, real example beats a perfect one.
- "Can you lift/stand/work weekends?" Answer plainly - these are about the job's real demands.
What to wear
- Retail & food service: clean, neat casual - a collared shirt or plain top, closed shoes.
- Warehouse & trades: practical and tidy - jeans and sturdy shoes are fine.
- Office / customer service: a step up - business casual.

Go during off-peak hours (mid-morning or mid-afternoon), ask for the hiring manager by name if you can, bring your availability written down, and be ready for a quick on-the-spot chat. Friendly and prepared wins.
